1. The astute reader may notice that Sally is wearing clothes again. She was on the last page, too - she was naked in one panel but as soon as she was in front of Gonterman, she was fully clothed. This is likely to have been a recurring theme in the artist's life. 2. In the bottom panel more than any other, Sally looks to be about to hit puberty. I do not know what she looked like in the comic. I do know that I am hoping that her here-one-minute-gone-the-next wardrobe is simply due to an oversight on David's part. I am really, really hoping. 3. The setup here is confusing, and it's even more confusing if you think about it - Sally is making peace with the fact that she may never see Sonic again...by burning Sonic comics, it seems. 4. David needed help with this plot. I've said it before, but: Make your own joke. 5. Call me a hippie, here, but when Ken Penders dies, I don't see God sending him to Hell for killing off a fictional character. Speaking of Ken Penders: Gonterman claimed that this comic was a victory over Ken, in that it took away his readership. Comparisons to Don Quixote are welcomed. 6. For your reference, Princess Sally is the character on the lower left in this picture. At the very least, it can be said of Gonterman's interpretation of the character that there are likely to be very few that look like it does. |
